Playing
The rules
All 52 cards are dealt face up across eight columns. Build the four foundations up from Ace to King by suit, using the four free cells as temporary parking. Within the columns, cards stack downward in alternating colours — a red six onto a black seven. You can drag a run of cards in one go when there is enough free space to have moved them one at a time.
Undo
Every move can be undone, as far back as the start of the deal. Undos are counted and shown in your game's stats, but nothing stops you using them.
Game numbers
Every deal has a number, shown at the top of the board and beside each entry in your scores. These use the same numbering as the classic Microsoft FreeCell, so a given number produces exactly the same layout it does there. Tapping Redeal on the home screen restarts the current number from scratch.
When a game won't come out
Most deals are winnable, but any deal can be played into a dead end where no legal move is left. If the board seems stuck, undo back to where things went wrong, or return to the home screen and use Redeal to start the same number again.
A very small number of deals cannot be won by anyone, no matter how well they are played — the best known is #11982. New Game deals from Microsoft's original 32,000 games and never deals #11982, so you will only meet an unwinnable deal by choosing its number yourself.
Your scores
What's included
Unlocking Your Scores is a single one-time purchase — not a subscription. It opens your full game history: every game you've played, your best and lowest scores, lost games, games you've flagged as difficult, and weekly and all-time views of each.
Restoring a purchase
If you've bought the unlock before — on another device, or after reinstalling — tap Your Scores, then Restore Purchases on the screen that appears. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with.
If a restore doesn't take, check Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Media & Purchases on the device, then try again. Still stuck? Email us — include the Apple Account email used for the purchase and we'll sort it out.
iCloud sync
Your game history and difficulty flags sync automatically between your devices through your own private iCloud storage. There is nothing to set up and no account to create.
If games aren't appearing on a second device:
- Check both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Check iCloud Drive is on, and that FreeCell Focus is enabled in Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud.
- Sync happens in the background and isn't instant — give it a moment on a good connection.
The game works fully offline. Without iCloud everything is simply stored on that device alone.
Game Center
Game Center is optional. When you're signed in, winning submits five leaderboard values: highest score, fastest win, fewest moves, total wins and longest streak. Total wins counts different games won, so winning the same deal again doesn't add to it; a streak ends at any game you lose or leave unfinished.
You'll find the Game Center row at the bottom of the Your Scores screen — it shows whether you're signed in and opens the leaderboards. If it says you're not signed in, tap Try Again, or sign in through Settings ▸ Game Center on your device first.
Nothing about Game Center affects the game itself. Not signing in simply means no scores are submitted.
